Vamo Travel LLC (“Vamo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Vamo app and website at vamonow.co. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding that information.

By using Vamo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide Directly

• Name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google.
• Home airport (IATA code) used to personalize trip recommendations.
• Loyalty program names and approximate point or mile balances you enter manually.
• Travel preferences captured through our quiz (trip length, travel style, party size, destination preferences).
• Any messages or feedback you send to us directly.

b. Loyalty Program Data (Connected Accounts — Future Feature)

In the future, with your explicit permission, Vamo may offer the ability to connect to your loyalty program accounts to automatically retrieve your balances. If and when this feature is introduced, we will:

• Request your clear, affirmative consent before accessing any account.
• Display a plain-language explanation of exactly what data will be accessed.
• Allow you to disconnect at any time and delete the retrieved data.

We will update this Privacy Policy before any connected-account feature ships.

c. Information Collected Automatically

• Device type, operating system, and browser type.
• IP address and approximate location (country/region level).
• Pages visited, features used, and time spent in the app.
• Referral source (how you arrived at Vamo).
• Crash reports and performance data.

d. Payment Information

If you subscribe to Compass (our paid tier), payment is processed by Stripe. Vamo does not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. We receive only a tokenized confirmation and your subscription status from Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Personalize trip and destination recommendations based on your points, home airport, and travel preferences.
• Calculate and display points value (CPP — cents per point) for destinations.
• Process payments and manage your Compass subscription.
• Send transactional emails (welcome message, payment receipts, subscription confirmations, renewal reminders).
• Send marketing communications such as our newsletter and product updates — only with your consent, and with an unsubscribe option in every email.
• Analyze how users interact with the app to improve features and fix bugs (via PostHog analytics).
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

a. Service Providers

We share data with third-party services that help us operate Vamo. Each provider receives only the data necessary for their function:

• Supabase — database hosting and user authentication infrastructure.
• Vercel — application hosting and content delivery.
• Google — single sign-on authentication (Google SSO).
• Stripe — payment processing for Compass subscriptions.
• Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery.
• PostHog — product analytics (usage data; no financial or loyalty data is shared).
• Unsplash — destination photography (we retrieve photos; no user data is sent to Unsplash).
• Duffel — live flight data and pricing.
• Seats.aero — award flight availability data.
• Amadeus — cash flight pricing data.

b. Affiliate Partners

Vamo includes affiliate links to third-party travel services including Viator, Expedia, CJ Affiliate, Impact, and Rakuten partner programs. When you click an affiliate link, you may be redirected to a third-party site. We may earn a commission if you complete a purchase. We do not share your personal account data with affiliate partners — affiliate tracking is anonymous click-level data.

We disclose affiliate relationships in accordance with FTC guidelines. Any link that may earn us a commission is an affiliate link.

c. Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vamo, our users, or the public.

d. Business Transfers

If Vamo Travel LLC is acquired, merged with, or transfers its assets to another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., payment records required by tax law).

Analytics data collected through PostHog is retained in aggregated or anonymized form after account deletion.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Vamo uses cookies and similar technologies to:

• Maintain your session after sign-in.
• Remember your preferences.
• Analyze usage patterns through PostHog (first-party analytics).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect app functionality, including the ability to stay signed in.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — request that we correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data.
• Portability — request your data in a portable format.
• Opt-out of marketing emails — use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us directly.

7. Children’s Privacy

Vamo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure database infrastructure (Supabase), and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

Vamo may contain links to third-party websites, apps, and booking platforms (airlines, hotels, credit card issuers, travel services). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service before providing your information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the Effective Date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, by sending a notice to the email address associated with your account.

Your continued use of Vamo after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
